This world is filled with wild adventure around every corner- come visit us and experience just a glimpse of the wild!
Tour Options
We offer self-guided tours and docent-guided tours. Regardless of the option you select, we have a trained docent that will welcome you upon your arrival. They will go over guidelines and what you can expect on your tour, as well as answer any of your questions. Most visitors choose self-guided, which is the default option. This is also our recommendation for those groups with children. Children show more interest exploring at their own pace rather than following our guided tour. Guided tours are docent led and take your on a 30 minute tour around the museum exhibits. If you are looking to bring a group of more than 5, please include this information in your booking reservation notes as this will allow us to schedule extra time for your group as needed.
Accessibility
For our mobility challenged visitors, we currently have temporary ramps to enter the building. However, the second floor is accessible by stairs only. The pathways are wide enough to accommodate visitors in wheelchairs. We are in the planning stages to properly expand accessibility so we can accommodate more visitors soon. The exhibit space has slight grade changes and is on the darker side concerning lighting. For our hearing challenged visitors, good news! The exhibit is best explored visually, and we have maps with the guided tour information printed. For our visually challenged guests, we can provide a docent to present the information about the space. There are also lots of audio effects that can help visitors feel more immersed in the surrounding nature. Please feel free to reach out if you have more questions about accessibility.
Time
Tours are scheduled on the hour, and half hour. You are welcome to stay beyond your scheduled block, but please understand other guests will be coming and going. Guided tours are docent led and take you on a 30 minute tour around the museum exhibits. The average time spent touring is 40 minutes when self-paced.
Special Effects
One of the things that makes our museum very unique is the immersive experience provided. We use theatrical lighting, audio effects, and animatronics to transport the individual into the exhibits. Sometimes these effects can be a bit much for some of our visitors. We are happy to offer a few different “tour” modes, so if you have concerns, please discuss this with our staff at check-in. We can also changes modes in the middle of your tour, if you change your mind!
Collections
The animals we have on display are predominately taxidermy specimens. We have a small amount of artificial animals as well. We have collected these specimens from various sources- estate sales, auctions, donations, etc. in an effort to best represent as many species as possible in their natural habitats.
Children/Pets?
Children are our primary audience. Most children do love the museum exhibits. Some also get a bit overwhelmed with the special effects, so we are happy to tone back the effects if your child prefers. We also have some fun yard games in our beautiful courtyard, so you are always welcome to run around outside as well. Unfortunately, we do not allow live animals to be brought inside. If you arrive with a pet, you will have to secure your pet outside.
Large Groups
Come alone or bring your people! Guided tours are best experienced with groups smaller than 8 people. As for self-guided tours, we cap this at 15 people. If you are looking to bring a group more than 6, please include this information in your booking reservation notes. We would love to have some extra time between bookings when possible. If you are looking for a more educational experience, or have a group larger than 15, you fall into our field trip category, please see below!
Field Trips?
We are here for education! This is a central part of our mission, and we want to ensure we do our best to carry this out. We would love to host your group and prepare the best field trip experience. We understand that each group has unique needs, so we have a team ready to create an experience that best fits your group. Please visit our education page and select the Field Trip tab to find out more. You can also email us at info@warrenwildlifegallery.org.
